Advanced and Slow Learners

Identifying the advanced learners and slow learners is an important part in teaching the students. They are identified based on their performance in the class tests/assessments and internal exams. After that, necessary steps are taken for each of the category students. Details are as follows:

Methodology used to identify Slow and Advanced learners

Guidelines for slow learner (Weak Students): 

  • The connotation of academically slow learner (Weak Students) means those who could not keep pace with the classroom teaching needs extra attention so as to bring such students at par with the rest of the students of the class.
  • Slow learners are identified based on their performance in the class tests/assessments and Internal Exams.

Measures taken for improving academic performance of these students,

  • Remedial/Extra sessions are conducted with appropriate focus on the subject/topics in which the students are found to be slow learners
  • Individual academic counseling is done by concerned subject teacher.
  • Students study groups are formed to facilitate peer-to-peer learning.
  • Counseling is done through mentoring on one to one basis and slow learners are counseled and motivated to improve the performance.

Guidelines for identifying Advanced Learners (Bright Students):

  • Advanced Learners (bright students) are those students who are ahead on the learning curve and require advanced technical know-how. 
  • Advanced earners are identified based on their performance in the class tests/assessments and Internal Exams.

Measures taken for improving academic performance of these students,

  • Personal Guidance for career planning.
  • Encouraging students to give Presentations in the class and go through journals of repute for more knowledge.
  • Providing practical case studies for the students and guiding them towards solving real time situations.
  • Encouraging to participate in various symposiums like quiz, poster presentation, Conferences, inter institution competitions etc.
